The cheap replica Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown range has been launched with a sustainable NATO strap collection woven from ECONYL yarn, which is made from recycled nylon waste pulled from the ocean, including discarded or lost fishing nets.
This means these straps are not only recycled but also recyclable. At £3,400, the 42mm copy Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown – co-designed with surfer Kelly Slater – itself is a perfectly serviceable and stylishly simple sports copy watch, with 42 hours of power reserve, black ceramic bezel and 100m water resistance.
But taking this idea of aquatic conservation to a much further degree is the Tom Ford 002 Ocean Plastic watch. At £895, the timepiece has a case and woven strap that are both made entirely from recycled material. Indeed, some 32 bottles of plastic waste is used to make each Tom Ford 002 Ocean Plastic watch. And not to fall at the final hurdle, the recyclable packaging is also made from 100 per cent ocean plastic.
While not being an automatic piece, the sleek 40mm quartz-powered watch clone also sports a stainless steel caseback with a black DLC coating and a simple matte black dial with lumed numerals, and is good 100m of water resistance.
The Breitling Top Time ref. 810 fake with the reversed panda dial is my favorite vintage Breitling. It is one of the cleanest and nice-looking chronographs that have ever been made. The replica watch was released in 1964 and is very nicely sized at just under 38mm, which was rather big on those days. But now, it’s the perfect size for a vintage chronograph to fit the wrists of many.
The 38 mm copy Breitling Top Time ref. 810 was powered by the famous hand-wound Venus 178 column-wheel chronograph movement. This movement is legendary and much loved by vintage Breitling collectors. It also powered the Navitimer, the AVI ref. 765 and the Premier ref. 765 amongst many other Breitling models.
The luxury Breitling copy watch lost its characteristic chamfered lugs.
As Mike explained in his in-depth article about the luxury fake Breitling Top Time ref. 810, Breitling produced different versions of the watch. It started with the Mark 1.1 and the Mark 1.2 that featured the same case design with a different case back. The Mark 1.1 came with either a black dial with a reverse panda layout or a silver dial. The Mark 1.2 only came with a reverse panda dial. In 1967 Breitling introduced the Top Time ref. 810 Mark 2 that featured a different case.
This case had the same round shape but was slightly bigger at 38.5mm and a bit flatter. The main difference, however, was the shape of the lugs. The high quality copy watch lost its characteristic chamfered lugs, and the lug width also changed from 21mm to 19mm. On top of that, there are also slight dial variations, and Breitling changed the hands.
